BMX/Dirt Jumping
This item has variously been listed as BMX/dirt jumping and Skateboard provision, all of which are constantly being considered in Martlesham and Kesgrave.
Martlesham Parish Council are progressing towards the creation of a BMX facility for young people in the area. Suffolk Coastal District Council has now granted a ‘Lawful Development Certificate’ which confirms that the project to provide contours for a BMX track, through landscaping on the area of land adjacent to the A12, is permitted development. This area is part of the Jubilee Play Space and will be accessed from Main Road, Martlesham, via the existing footpath and track. Clearance of the designated area began in October 2011 and it is anticipated that the shaping of the tracks will take place during November and December, weather permitting. It is hoped to complete the development some time in January 2012. Before this date the site will have been secured, inspected and will continue to be monitored on a regular basis by trained inspectors.
