Advisory Letter - Parking In The Area Of Kesgrave High School

Some drivers are committing No Waiting or Obstruction offences by stopping in bus stops, on the combined footpath / cycle path or in the keep clear area at the main gate. In some of these cases, a further offence is being committed by driving on the footpath. These drivers are causing an unacceptable risk to others.

We are working in partnership with Kesgrave Town Council, Kesgrave High School, the Local Planning Authority and the Highways Authority to seek a permanent solution. In the short term, there will now be an increased police presence to deal with those that are committing these offences.  Fixed Penalty Notices (£30:00 fine) may now be issued on a zero-tolerance basis if necessary.

Please adhere to the following guidance which aims to keep everyone safe:

  • If you do not really need to drive to the school, please consider walking, cycling or using public transport.
  • If you must drive, please arrive early to allow yourself plenty of time to find a legal and safe place to park where you do not commit any offences. Do not wait in the bus stops, keep clear area, on the cycle path, footpath or grass verges.
  • Please drive slowly in the area of the school whilst paying particular attention to junctions.
  • If you park in nearby roads, please ensure that you do not block access to resident’s driveways, properties, access points, or junctions.
  • Please ensure that you do not obstruct dropped kerbs.
  • Please contact the Ipswich East Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) for further advice or guidance.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation which will be very much appreciated by all.
