Seven lucky Scouts and Explorer Scouts (including our own Simon Kirby) were selected last year to represent Deben District at the World Scout Jamboree 2011. This will be held in southern Sweden and will be a wonderful experience for everybody attending. They will join 28 other young people from across the County to make up the Suffolk Unit of the UK's contingent.

We also have two adults from the District taking part as Unit Leaders. Over the next 12 months everybody taking part has to raise just under £2000 each to meet the fees required. Here in the UK we pay a "FULL FEE" as a 'rich' nation. As well as covering the full cost of the Jamboree and transport etc. an element of the charge is used to subsidise Scouts from poorer parts of the world so they too can participate in the event.

All our Scouts & Explorers are busy with fund-raising events so please do you very best to support them. Make your friends and families aware of these events and encourage them to participate.
